Manicheism

[From the name of the Persian theologian Mani (3rd century CE).]

  1. (metaphysics) A religious sect (similar in its dualism to gnosticism) claiming to supersede Christianity, Zoroastrianism, and Buddhism; Manicheism held that good and evil are co-eternal and equally powerful forces in the universe.
