I didn't know that U.S. congresscritters (as Robert Heinlein used to call them) receive an automatic pay raise every year unless they specifically vote against it (and what's the likelihood of that?). So late Friday night Congress gave itself a raise. Makes you feel all warm and happy inside, doesn't it?

In other news, Claire Wolfe weighs in on national ID cards, Victor Davis Hanson has written another sparkling essay (this time on what's wrong in the Muslim world), and Jeremy Lott asks whither Canada? in a post-9/11 world.

The conservative Americans for Tax Reform (personally I favor tax repeal) has published a set of political maps of the United States, which look interesting.

And here's a good overview for first-time gun buyers. That might be me sometime....
