Thanks to Jay Manifold, I just found this editorial about the phenomenon of American Islam: the mixing of Islamic peoples from all over the world (including many African-Americans converts) seems to be leading to the development of an open, tolerant, pluralistic vision of Islam. A hopeful sign.
