Eric Raymond has published Halloween XI, the most recent of his investigations into Microsoft's campaign against open-source technologies. It seems that Microsoft is getting pretty desperate, since none of its previous arguments against open-source has stuck (open-source: the Teflon technology!). As part of its propaganda war, M$ seems to be buying support from conservative think-tanks, and even from some of the more capitalistic libertarians out there. Personally, I think individualism and freedom are more important than the needs of big business (which Ayn Rand once called "America's Persecuted Minority"). The words of John Perry Barlow ring true for me:
Any corporation, because of the intensity of the reality distortion field of the collective organism that is a large corporate entity, has a totalitarian quality.
